Therapy for anxious overthinkers &
burned-out high-achievers

Life can be overwhelming.

If you feel anxious and exhausted, always-on and never-enough, you're not alone. Therapy can help you feel calmer, find balance, and build confidence to navigate your path with greater ease.

Forest Path Counseling offers hope and healing for anxiety, perfectionism, stress, burnout, and life transitions. Licensed psychotherapist Meredith Reames LCSW helps adults quiet overthinking, regulate their nervous systems, build self-trust, and reconnect with what matters through evidence-based psychotherapy, mindfulness, and nature-based therapy.

Listen, are you breathing just a little, and calling it a life?

How Therapy Can Help

Inviting you to slow down, tune in, and find steady footing.

You don't have to know exactly what's wrong or which kind of therapy you need to get started. I work with adults navigating anxiety, overthinking, perfectionism, burnout, and life transitions using an integrative approach grounded in calm, connection, and meaning.

Explore the areas below to learn more about how therapy can support you.

Anxious Overthinking

Spend less time in your head and more time engaged in your life.

Perfectionism

Let go of impossible expectations without letting go of what matters.

Burnout Recovery

Find your way back from running on empty.

These experiences often overlap. You may recognize yourself in more than one of these areas. That's completely normal. Anxiety, overthinking, perfectionism, and burnout can reinforce one another, and we don't need to put you into a single box to figure out where to begin.

How Therapy Works

Building resilience for life's uncertainties with practical tools and deeper connection, to yourself and the world around you.

In our work together, you'll...

  • Turn down the mental noise to create space between yourself and anxiety.

  • Understand your thoughts and emotions with curiosity and self-compassion.

  • Get clear on what you want for yourself, not what you’ve been told to want.

  • Build self-trust so your choices are guided by your values instead of anxiety.

  • Soothe your nervous system to feel steady in your body as well as your mind.

  • Develop practical tools you can carry into everyday life.

Therapy isn't about fixing you. It's about creating space to better understand yourself. Sessions are collaborative, compassionate, and paced to meet you where you are. Together we'll explore what's keeping you stuck, build practical skills for navigating anxiety and overwhelm, and help you reconnect with what matters most.

Support that's uniquely tailored to you. Every person is different, and therapy should be too. I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Narrative Therapy to help you achieve your goals for therapy while building skills and self-knowledge to keep you feeling grounded wherever your path takes you. We’ll work together to find the approaches that best support your goals, your strengths, and the life you want to build.

Meet wherever you feel most comfortable. Sessions are offered securely via telehealth, allowing you to access therapy from the comfort of your home or another private space. Many clients find that meeting virtually makes it easier to fit therapy into busy lives while still building a meaningful therapeutic relationship. If you’re in the Durham/Chapel Hill area, you may also choose to meet outdoors: learn more about nature-based therapy here.

What to Expect

  • A warm, collaborative relationship where you don't have to have everything figured out.

  • Weekly or biweekly sessions tailored to your goals and pace.

  • Space to process what's happening now while understanding the patterns that brought you here.

  • Practical strategies alongside deeper self-exploration.

  • Therapy that evolves as your needs change.

What We Grow

Our mission is to help you create a life that feels grounded, meaningful, and truly your own. We focus on cultivating calm, connection, and meaning as natural antidotes to the anxiety, perfectionism, and burnout that can get in the way.

Our Approach to Healing

We draw from three complementary therapies. I integrate these approaches depending on your goals, personality, and what feels most helpful. Together we’ll discover what resonates most with you.

  • ACT helps you grow your ability to act mindfully, guided by your values. We develop a different relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions so they no longer run the show. You'll learn practical skills for responding to anxiety with greater flexibility and intention.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) focuses on deepening your connection with yourself. We help your anxious parts feel seen and understood so they can soften, and we strengthen your calm, compassionate Core Self to lead your parts into supportive balance.

  • Narrative Therapy explores the stories you’ve come to believe about yourself and your life. Together we’ll separate you from the problem, uncover moments that challenge anxious narratives, and build new stories rooted in your resilience, values, and strengths.

You don’t need to know which approach is “right” for you before reaching out. That’s something we’ll discover together. To learn more about these therapies and how they support calm, connection, and meaning, check out Our Approach.
